The 3-Step Plan To Take A Smile From Dreary To Cheery

Dentist Blog

Teeth come in all shapes, colors, and sizes, but it can still be difficult for one's sense of self-worth if your teeth have multiple downsides. If you're envious of the teeth of celebrities or the freshly-whitened smiles of your friends because your teeth look less than perfect and you're missing one or two, this guide is for you. Keep reading to learn how a cosmetic dentist will make your smile look better than ever.

1. Dental Implants

The first step you should follow to fix up your smile with a cosmetic dentist is to get dental implants. Dental implants are dental tools that take the place of real teeth. Unlike dentures or bridges, dental implants are permanently mounted in your mouth on top of metal posts that sit beneath them. These posts help to keep the implant strong, which makes them last for a very long time. On top of all that, dental implants can be chosen in any shade of white, so your new replacement tooth will look as good as you want the rest of your smile to.

2. Veneers

Once your implant is installed, dental veneers are a great way to fix up the rest of your teeth. Veneers are made of porcelain, like the tooth portion of dental implants, but they're designed to make your existing teeth look good.

Veneers are very thin and are mounted to the front of teeth, giving your teeth a much nicer appearance. Veneers can make teeth look white, straight, even, and basically perfect. This is how many celebrities get their perfectly glamorous smiles, but the procedure is accessible to everyone and quite affordable.

3. Gum Repairs

Lastly, overlooking the look and health of your gums can cast a shadow on all the other work you're having done by a dentist.

When your gums aren't healthy, they tend to recede. This means that they pull away from your tooth, exposing more of the tooth. They may also appear red or inflamed if there's an active infection.

Your dentist will first examine your gums to find out if they're actively diseased. If so, treating that will be the first priority. Then, your dentist will perform a gum graft to move a small amount of tissue from the roof of your mouth to the end of your gums. This will make your gums look like they're at a healthy length again and will polish off this three-step dental makeover.

Getting your teeth redone with a cosmetic dentist is one easy way to make yourself feel better about your appearance. Your friends and family will be stunned by your smile, and you'll be able to meet new people without the anxiety of flashing a smile and showing off your less-than-perfect teeth.

Mouth Rinses Are Not Just for Bad Breath

I have always brushed and flossed my teeth daily, but I still had the occasional cavity when I visited the dentist for a check-up. He told me it was normal to have a cavity on occasion and that I shouldn't let it stress me out too much. Well, I am not one to just accept any problem I am having, so I started looking into how to improve my oral hygiene even more. I had always thought mouthwash was just to improve your breath, but I found some that said they helped keep cavities away. I started using one every day before bed. I haven't had a cavity in two years now, and I think the mouth rinse is the reason! I created this blog to remind other people that even if they brush and floss regularly, they can always find ways to take even better care of their teeth.
