2 Oral Rinses For Soothing Pain After Your Lip Bumper Installation

Dentist Blog

A lip bumper is attached to the molars in your mouth and your lower jaw. The dental device is designed to make room for additional teeth. Overcrowding can throw your mouth and other teeth out of alignment. When the lip bumper is first installed, it may feel tight and painful. The discomfort reduces as your teeth get accustomed to the dental device. Since you need to wear your lip bumper as much as possible, the pain and discomfort can be difficult to deal with. Luckily, there are a few oral rinses that you can use to soothe pain immediately after your lip bumper installation.

Clove Oil Rinse

If you are dealing with any form of dental pain, clove oil is often used as a natural remedy. The spice contains germicidal properties that make it ideal for pain relief. When used immediately after your lip bumper is installed, clove oil can successfully soothe your aches. In order to create your own clove oil rinse, start by filling a small pot with water. Add two lemon slices to the pot and place it on high heat to boil. Once it boils, remove it from the stove and add six drops of clove oil. Wait for the oral rinse to cool, then work it in between your teeth and lip bumper. Concentrate on your molars and gums. Hold the rinse in your mouth for a few minutes, then spit. After using the rinse, apply a drop of clove oil to the areas of your teeth that are painful.

Lavender Rinse

If you are looking for an all-purpose herb that can be used to successfully treat all of your bodily aches, then lavender might your solution. The herb is used as a soothing and calming herb in order to alleviate soreness and pain. When turned into a rinse, lavender can be used to soothe dental pain. Your lavender rinse can be created with the use of fresh lavender herbs. Cut the herbs into small pieces and place them in a small pot of water to boil. Remove the pot from the stove once it boils and use it to cleanse your entire mouth. Focus the rinse towards the back of your mouth where your molars are located. Keep the rinse in your mouth for several minutes before you decide to spit it out.

The first few days after your lip bumper is installed can be painful. Therefore, use these rinses to help ease the pain. Ask a local family dentist for more tips and ideas.

Mouth Rinses Are Not Just for Bad Breath

I have always brushed and flossed my teeth daily, but I still had the occasional cavity when I visited the dentist for a check-up. He told me it was normal to have a cavity on occasion and that I shouldn't let it stress me out too much. Well, I am not one to just accept any problem I am having, so I started looking into how to improve my oral hygiene even more. I had always thought mouthwash was just to improve your breath, but I found some that said they helped keep cavities away. I started using one every day before bed. I haven't had a cavity in two years now, and I think the mouth rinse is the reason! I created this blog to remind other people that even if they brush and floss regularly, they can always find ways to take even better care of their teeth.
