Know Your Options When It Comes To Improving Your Smile

Dentist Blog

Over time, your teeth can become discolored, chipped, or become so damaged that they need to be removed. While you can try to prevent these issues, there are times when accidents occur. If you have teeth that are oddly shaped, too short, or too long, there are ways your dentist can fix your teeth so that they are more in line with the rest of your smile. When you don't feel confident about your smile and you find yourself refusing to show your teeth, you have choices. From dental implants to restoring missing teeth to veneers that improve the overall look of your existing teeth, cosmetic dentist services can improve your smile.

Veneers to Cover Up Existing Teeth

Even when you have a full set of teeth, you may not like how they are shaped or colored. If you have tried whitening your teeth without success, you can get veneers to make a drastic improvement to your smile. Veneers are permanently placed on your teeth, and will look and feel natural. Though, you should know that you will have a tiny bit of enamel removed from your teeth in order for the veneers to be secure.

Dental Implants and Missing Teeth

If you have one or several missing teeth, dental implants can offer you a solution. With dental implants, you will have a great looking tooth that looks natural. You won't have to treat your tooth any differently, and it should last a lifetime. Your dentist will place a titanium implant into your mouth that works as an anchor for a new crown to be placed. The crown and titanium rod create a tooth that will remain in your mouth indefinitely.

Whitening and Bonding

When your teeth are only mildly discolored or you want to change the shape of your teeth slightly, you have choices. Whitening provided by your dentist is going to be even more effective than at-home treatments. For short or oddly shaped teeth, your dentist can use bonding to create a better looking tooth shape. If you break a tooth, your dentist can use bonding material to fix the tooth and make it look normal again.

If you are hiding your smile and don't have the confidence you want, you have choices. Talk with your cosmetic dentist about the changes you want to make and learn how you can improve your smile one step at a time.

Mouth Rinses Are Not Just for Bad Breath

I have always brushed and flossed my teeth daily, but I still had the occasional cavity when I visited the dentist for a check-up. He told me it was normal to have a cavity on occasion and that I shouldn't let it stress me out too much. Well, I am not one to just accept any problem I am having, so I started looking into how to improve my oral hygiene even more. I had always thought mouthwash was just to improve your breath, but I found some that said they helped keep cavities away. I started using one every day before bed. I haven't had a cavity in two years now, and I think the mouth rinse is the reason! I created this blog to remind other people that even if they brush and floss regularly, they can always find ways to take even better care of their teeth.
