News Anchor Who Smoke May Put Their Career At Risk

Dentist Blog

Thousands of people across the nation dream of becoming news anchors because of the exciting opportunities it presents. Unfortunately, those who smoke may be putting their smiles at risk of developing intrinsic stains and needing teeth whitening, like that offered at Cape Dental Care, to protect their livelihood.

Smiles Matter...But Only Good Ones

News anchors need to present a great smile to the camera when they are on the air. People often heavily judge those who do not have a nice smile or who are unwilling to smile. In fact, studies have shown that the world loves it when people smile but only if the smile is good looking. A news anchor with heavily stained teeth would, therefore, potentially be putting their career at risk.

How? If people complain about the nature of their smile or decide to avoid watching the channel, they could end up costing the station ratings. As a result, it is crucial to take a lot of time to carefully whiten the teeth and to look great for the camera. It is also important to understand the nature of intrinsic stains and how smoking contributes to it.

The Nature Of Intrinsic Stains

There are two types of dental stains; extrinsic and intrinsic. The former is primarily stains on the surface of the tooth caused by a variety of serious dental problems. It can typically be managed by brushing the teeth or regular cleanings from a dentist. However, intrinsic stains are actually a deep coloring of the inner structure of the tooth itself.

This level of staining is often more difficult to control because the very nature of the tooth is being affected. When it happens to news anchors, it can create a very yellow and ugly smile that makes people turn away from them. Those who smoke are at a higher risk of developing this problem and need a good teeth whitening.

How Smoking Leads To Them

Smoking is one of the leading causes of tooth discoloration, particularly intrinsic stains, because it exposes the teeth to high levels of staining materials. Heavy smokers are more likely to suffer from this problem, making it important for news anchors to both give up smoking and get teeth whitening. The first act requires a lot of concentration and willpower to manage.

The second act is a lot easier to perform. A good teeth whitening will attack the stains on a news anchors teeth and quickly eliminate them. An intrinsic cleaning requires more intensive and expensive procedures, but it is necessary for those professionals who want a beautiful smile. So anyone who is planning on going into broadcast journalism needs to quit smoking and get a teeth whitening.

Mouth Rinses Are Not Just for Bad Breath

I have always brushed and flossed my teeth daily, but I still had the occasional cavity when I visited the dentist for a check-up. He told me it was normal to have a cavity on occasion and that I shouldn't let it stress me out too much. Well, I am not one to just accept any problem I am having, so I started looking into how to improve my oral hygiene even more. I had always thought mouthwash was just to improve your breath, but I found some that said they helped keep cavities away. I started using one every day before bed. I haven't had a cavity in two years now, and I think the mouth rinse is the reason! I created this blog to remind other people that even if they brush and floss regularly, they can always find ways to take even better care of their teeth.
